Hi everyone, my name is Aimee Edwards. I am a dancer/creative artist with a passion for mental health and wellbeing. I have had over 15 years of dance experience, training in various styles, while also exploring other forms within the creative arts such as music & drama.

My VISION, as a creative artist, is to help people who struggle with their mental health to use dance/movement to express what words cannot.

My MISSION, to fulfil this vision, consists of What? How? & Why?
What? – Create a platform for all peoples to explore & express themselves through movement and the creative creative arts.
How? – Open up community classes, for little to no cost, facilitated by professional dance teachers & counsellors.

Why? – The statistics for mental illnesses & suicides in New Zealand are higher than any other country. Help needs to be made available for all people regardless of culture, income, status, age etc.

My MESSAGE – Let’s call it, “Expression Movement: To free the body is to free the mind.” Through research and personal experience I have found that the mind and body are overwhelmingly connected & intertwined. So why not use the body to heal the mind?

Of course, let’s not forget to acknowledge the very foundation and PERSONALITY of it all… Authenticity, Freedom, Empathy, Curiosity, Passion, & Growth. These are the core values & beliefs that I consider to be my Kaupapa & Tikanga, and are upheld in both my personal and professional exchanges.

And last but not least, my Mood-Board… A visual representation of all that I have shared with you today.
Thank you.
